  My 9-year-old's Brownie troop helped wash dogs this weekend at the Burke County Friends For Animals shelter. They also spent the afternoon walking dogs and holding puppies and kittens. I could hardly drag her away when it was time to come home!

We had our big black dog, Marley washed there, too. It was well worth the $25 not to have dog hair plastered all over the bathroom walls when she shakes after a bath.

Of course, Julia thinks we should adopt another cat. We are currently at maximum capacity as far as animals go with 1 eighty-pound dog and 3 cats.

The Brownies had a wonderful time volunteering at our local no-kill animal shelter here in Morganton. And I am sure the cats and dogs did, too!

  The sun is shining brightly today here in Morganton, NC. If you are indoors, it can be a little deceptive. When you go outside, the cold air and wind takes you by surprise. Hopefully it will warm up later this afternoon so I can water our outdoor plants in front of the office without feeling guilty. Watering plants on a cold day seems harsh, but it needs to be done.
