Back from the Outer Banks
I just got back from Bogue Banks, NC and a 3 day, 2 night environmental field trip with my daughter Callie.
She and her 4th and 5th grade classmates experienced first hand the plant and animal life in the ocean, the sound, the brackish pond, and the maritime forest.

The camp and its setting were unbelievably gorgeous. Had I not been sleeping in a cabin with 9 girls and 1 bathroom, I might have stayed longer!
Highlights were dissecting a squid, studying sea turtles, and wading in the sound. The environmental education extended to learning about food waste and composting at meals.
Both of my girls are students at our local charter school,
New Dimensions School. We are very fortunate to have excellent choices in education, which makes introducing newcomers to Morganton, NC and real estate here much easier!
