Lake James - Morganton, NC
The arrival of the warmer weather has brought Lake James out of hibernation. House showing activity is increasing as the allure of the lake's long summer days is just around the corner. The lake is at full pond, with all the boating access areas open for the season.
Spring weather has brought out the blooms of dogwoods, azaleas and buttercups. We're all waiting for the last possibility of frost so we can plant our vegetable gardens.
The lake water is still too cool to swim, however I did get to swim at the end of last April on a hot and sunny day. The year before last, warm weather lasted until November as I was able to take a quick dip just after Halloween. Normally, the water is great from mid May into early October.

The Art of Chocolate
Morganton, North Carolina has always had a wonderful sense of community. That is one of the things I emphasize as a Morganton, NC real estate broker when I "show our town" to newcomers.
This Friday night, April 25th is the Art of Chocolate in Morganton, North Carolina. The event will be held at the City of Morganton Municipal Auditorium to benefit Options, a local agency that supports and houses victims of domestic violence.
Music by Joe Hasty and other local musicians will showcase the art from locals such as Hamilton Williams, Frances Hairfield, John S. Payne, Peggy Carter, Susan Fretz, Harry Seng, Brooks Yeomans, and many others that will auctioned off to benefit Options.
Food, by way of desserts, will be primarily chocolate, of course. Local chocolatiers will be joined by the Mimosa Grill of Charlotte in a dessert competition.
